Bloom stands out in the world of furniture design due to its dual functionality and emotional resonance. It is not merely a grow box, but a contemporary piece of furniture that fosters a connection between urban dwellers and their innate desire for nature. Amid the challenges of city life, Bloom serves as a reminder of the tranquility and serenity that nature can provide.
The design process for Bloom began in October 2019 at Nottingham Trent University, UK, and was completed in a fast-paced two months. Despite the tight timeframe and the challenges posed by unfamiliar mechanical solutions and production methods, Bukulmez was able to successfully bring his vision to life. He credits his success to the wealth of information and support he received from engineers and experts.
Bloom's unique properties extend beyond its physical design. It can be operated via a mobile application, allowing users to actively engage with their plants. This interactive feature reinforces the bond between the user and their plants, fostering a sense of care and nurturing that is often lost in the hustle and bustle of urban life.
The design of Bloom is a testament to Bukulmez's innovative approach to design, combining form, function, and emotional connection. This unique blend of elements has not gone unnoticed. In 2020, Bloom was awarded Silver in the A' Furniture Design Award, a prestigious accolade recognizing outstanding expertise and innovation in design.
Bloom is more than just a piece of furniture or a grow box. It is a symbol of the balance between urban living and the natural world, a reminder of the nurturing relationship humans can have with nature, even in the heart of a concrete jungle. As Bukulmez holds the copyrights to this design, Bloom stands as a testament to his creativity and innovation, and the potential of design to bridge the gap between humans and their natural desires.
